HIHAUS Opens an Intelligent Technology Exhibition Hall
At the Guangzhou construction expo we opened the sixth generation of our technology experience hall, under the theme of intelligent living and an open future. The design language was restrained: a grey palette, minimal applied decoration, and the product left to carry the space. The interesting part was not the styling.
A testing bay in a showroom
The hall included a working test area for water tightness, air tightness and acoustic performance. Visitors could see a unit under a water spray and watch what happened at the frame, the gasket line and the sill. This is unusual in a showroom, and it was deliberate, because the three failure modes buyers actually experience are all visible in a test rather than in a catalogue.
A window that passes a water test does so because the sill drains, the gasket compresses and the corners are sealed. None of those three are apparent from a photograph, and all three are apparent within thirty seconds of watching a unit under spray.
How the space is organised
- Product series presented by category rather than by year, so a buyer can compare a 103 casement against an 86 top-hung in the same sightline.
- Living-scene settings where the same system appears in a residential and a commercial context, to show how the same profile reads differently at different scales.
- The test bay, positioned centrally rather than at the back, because it is the part we want visitors to spend time at.
Why showrooms grow generations
Each generation of this hall has tracked a change in the product range rather than a change in interior fashion. Earlier versions were organised around surface finishes, because that was what buyers were choosing between. This one is organised around performance and section detail, because that is what buyers now ask about. The shift is a fair summary of how the export market has matured over the period.
