Frequently Asked Questions

Everything buyers ask before ordering windows and doors from China — answered directly by our sales and engineering team.

About HIHAUS

Are you a manufacturer or a trading company?

We are a real manufacturer. HIHAUS has produced aluminum windows, doors and curtain walls since 2004 — 20+ years in R&D, manufacturing and export. Our production base in Foshan covers 123,000㎡ with 800+ skilled workers and an annual capacity of 500,000㎡, supplying projects in more than 140 countries.

Can I visit your factory or arrange an audit?

Yes. Factory visits to our Foshan production base are welcome, and we can also walk you through the workshops live on a video call. Third-party inspections (SGS, TÜV, BV) are accepted at any stage.

Do you inspect products before shipping?

Every unit is checked by our QC department before packing — dimensions, glass, hardware and finish. For project orders we share QC photos and loading reports, and third-party pre-shipment inspection is acceptable.

Products & Systems

PVC or aluminum windows — which is better?

Neither is simply 'better' — they serve different goals. PVC offers strong insulation at a lower cost; aluminum is stronger, slimmer and offers far more color and design options. For coastal, high-rise or design-led projects we usually recommend aluminum; for budget-driven residential volume, PVC works well. Tell us your project and we will recommend the right system.

Thermal break vs non-thermal break — what is the difference?

Non-thermal break costs less upfront. Thermal break profiles insulate far better — keeping interiors warmer in winter and cooler in summer, improving soundproofing and waterproofing, and can lower energy bills by 10% or more over time. For the US and Canada we recommend thermal break systems in almost all climate zones.

Will the double glass get steamy or foggy inside?

No. We build insulating units with high-seal spacers and desiccant filling — argon gas filling is available for even better long-term dryness. A typical configuration is 5mm + 20A + 5mm double tempered glass, produced on our fully automatic warm-edge line. Qualified units do not fog between the panes.

What glazing options can I choose from?

Single, double and triple glazing; Low-E coatings; laminated, tempered and tinted glass; argon filling; built-in blinds; and impact-rated glass for hurricane zones. Our engineers match the glass build-up to your climate and code requirements.

Which hardware brands do you use?

We fit German-brand hardware such as Roto on our premium systems, with other international or cost-efficient brands available per your specification. Every quotation states the exact hardware brand and model.

Quotation & Ordering

What do you need to give me a quotation?

Four things speed it up: 1) your drawings or a size-and-quantity schedule (PDF, CAD or even photos with dimensions), 2) hardware and glass requirements, 3) thermal break or non-thermal break, 4) surface finish (powder coat color, wood grain, anodized). Send what you have — our team replies within 12 hours and a reference quotation usually follows within 1–2 working days.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

We serve both single-villa orders and large project volumes. There is no rigid MOQ for standard systems — pricing depends on total quantity and configuration.

Can you manufacture to my custom sizes and colors?

Yes. All products are made to order: custom sizes, profile colors (including wood grain), glass configurations and hardware brands are all customizable.

Can I get a sample before ordering?

Yes. Corner samples and material swatches can be arranged quickly; full sample units are also available — you normally cover the express cost, credited back on your first order for most project cases.

What payment terms do you accept?

Standard terms are T/T (bank transfer) with a deposit before production and balance before shipment. Other terms can be discussed for project orders.

Lead Time & Shipping

How long does production take?

15–25 days after drawing confirmation for standard systems in stock materials; 30–55 days for fully customized materials or complex project orders. Ocean freight to North America is additional and varies by port — we quote it with your order.

Which trade terms do you support?

EXW, FOB, CIF, CFR and DDU. Shipping port: Guangzhou, China. We can also work with your appointed forwarder.

How are the products packed for ocean shipping?

Products are packed in export-standard protection: foam and film wrapping, steel or wooden frame crating, with container loading plans optimized by our logistics team.

Do you handle customs clearance in my country?

Under DDU terms we coordinate delivery to your destination; import clearance is normally handled by the buyer or your broker. We provide all shipping documents required.

Certification & Compliance

Are your windows and doors certified for the US / Canada?

Our aluminum window and door systems have passed American NFRC and AAMA quality testing, and we hold multiple international test reports including Intertek and CSI (Class A). For Canada, CSA Group testing of our systems has been completed and the certificate is pending — ask our team for the current status before specifying for a Canadian project.

What is the status of your CSA (Canada) certification?

CSA Group testing of our window and door systems has been completed and the certificate is pending issuance. In the meantime we can supply NFRC/AAMA and Intertek test reports, and our engineers can advise which configuration suits your province's requirements. We do not describe any system as CSA certified until the certificate is issued.

Can you meet local energy codes?

Yes. With thermal-break profiles, Low-E double or triple glazing and warm-edge spacers, our systems can be configured to meet demanding energy requirements. Tell us your climate zone and code target — our engineers will propose a compliant configuration.

Installation & After-Sales

Do you help with design and shop drawings?

Yes — free design support is part of our service. Our engineers produce shop drawings and system proposals from your architectural drawings, and fabrication starts only after you sign off on the confirmed drawings.

Do you provide installation support?

Yes. Every order ships with step-by-step instructions (PDF and video) and is assigned a dedicated engineer. For project orders we provide remote guidance throughout installation, and on-site support can be arranged for complex projects.

What if accessories or parts are damaged or missing?

Contact our after-sales team with photos — replacement parts are produced or shipped from stock with priority.

What warranty do you offer?

Warranty terms depend on the product system and hardware brand, and are confirmed in your quotation and contract. HIHAUS provides long-term after-sales support for all projects — many of our clients have worked with us for years.
